What is your honest opinions of the electronic drum sets?
My brother-in-law just grabbed a set of these. I tried them out with head phones...but I will admit I was interested for recording purposes for adding some drums to some tracks I have here. I didn't know if you have used them before and the recording quality of these sets...

John has a really nice set of Yamaha electric drums. Roland VDrums are nice too. They record really well.

I played a set of the Roland TD-12 V-drums and they were awesome!
Felt really good.

That's been my complaint about E-drums in general, they don't feel good.
It's true that they don't have the dynamics of a real drum either.

However, the improvements in them since the 80's is dramatic and used judiciously can be a real trip.
The new snare drum pads with position sensitivity are really nice.
I find the only thing I find lacking in them is the ride cymbal.

I am using a TrapKAT with a Roland TD-12 module for our band's live gigs,
been using since May of this year.
Easy to cart around, setup in 5 minutes, and sound pretty convincing.

Like anything though, they aren't for everyone.
I like them because real drum hurt my ears.
